Nato nel 1992 dalla collaborazione tra l’Agenzia per la Protezione Ambientale e il Dipartimento di Energia degli Stati Uniti, il programma Energy Star 5.0 ha il compito di fissare i criteri di efficienza energetica, riconoscere i prodotti a basso impatto ambientale e promuovere la riduzione dei gas serra.
Lo standard Energy Star 5.0 entrerà in vigore il prossimo primo Luglio, ma Asus è già in grado di offrire numerose mainboard conformi ai nuovi criteri, dimostrandosi all’avanguardia, quindi, non solo dal punto di vista delle prestazioni, ma anche da quello dell’efficienza energetica.
Le schede madri Asus sono conformi anche agli standard Restriction on Hazardous Substances (RoHS) e Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE), per la riduzione di materiali e sostanze nocive all’interno dei prodotti e rilasciate nell’ambiente.
