La prima consente di caricare la parte superiore dello stack del supercondensatore a una tensione di ingresso VIN con una corrente di carica che varia in modo inversamente proporzionale al differenziale di tensione tra ingresso e uscita per evitare il riscaldamento eccessivo; la seconda modalit\u00e0 carica invece lo stack a una tensione di uscita programmata esternamente con una corrente di carica fissa, anch&#8217;essa programmabile esternamente.<br \/>\nLa corrente di carica \u00e8 programmabile tramite resistore fino a 2 A (3 A di picco) e ciascun condensatore \u00e8 dotato di derivatori interni per la protezione dalla sovratensione (tensione selezionabile tra 2,45 V e 2,7 V).<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nIl diodo ideale con limitazione della corrente integrato nell&#8217;LTC4425 offre una resistenza estremamente bassa  pari a 50mOhm per evitare l&#8217;inversione della tensione VIN, caratteristica che rende questo dispositivo particolarmente adatto per numerose apparecchiature alimentate a batteria o tramite USB, palmari industriali, strumenti portatili, sistemi di monitoraggio, misuratori di potenza, circuiti di backup per supercondensatori e schede PC\/modem USB con elevata potenza di picco.<\/p>\n<p>Grazie al <strong>bilanciamento automatico delle celle<\/strong>, l&#8217;LTC4425 mantiene uguale la tensione su entrambe le celle, eliminando cos\u00ec la necessit\u00e0 di resistori specifici, proteggendo ogni supercondensatore da eventuali danni causati dalla sovratensione e riducendo al minimo il loro consumo di corrente. Il circuito integrato funziona con una corrente di riposo molto bassa (20 \u00b5A) quando la tensione di uscita \u00e8 in fase di regolazione e consuma solo 2 \u00b5A in modalit\u00e0 di arresto, prelevati dalla tensione di ingresso o di uscita, a seconda di quale delle due \u00e8 pi\u00f9 alta. Il circuito di carica di base richiede solo sei componenti esterni ed \u00e8 estremamente compatto: viene infatti offerto in un package da 9 mm2 con ingombro ridotto o in un package dotato di conduttori.<\/p>\n<p>Le altre funzionalit\u00e0 del dispositivo includono il <strong>segnale power fail della VIN e il monitoraggio continuo dalla corrente VIN alla corrente VOUT tramite il pin PROG. nonch\u00e9 la limitazione termica e della corrente per ridurre la corrente di carica in caso di temperatura eccessiva.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>L&#8217;LTC4425 \u00e8 disponibile nel package DFN da 3 x 3 mm con 12 conduttori e basso profilo (0,75mm) e nel package MSOP a 12 conduttori, entrambi con funzionalit\u00e0 termiche avanzate. Il dispositivo supporta temperature operative di giunzione comprese tra -40\u00b0C e 85\u00b0C.
